Automating Discounts with Price Points 💸
Setting up discounts shouldn't be a manual chore during a busy dinner rush! In NX Restaurant, you can link a discount directly to a Price Point. This means the moment you select that specific price (like a "Happy Hour" rate), the discount is applied automatically to that specific item. No extra buttons, no math, and no mistakes! 🚀
Why use Price Points for Discounts?
Usually, discounts have lots of rules—like what time they start or who needs to approve them. When you attach a discount to a Price Point, the system assumes you know what you’re doing. It skips all standard validation (like time restrictions or manager approvals) to make the checkout process lightning-fast. ⚡
⚠️ Important: Discount Compatibility
Before you link your discount, you must ensure the Discount itself is set up correctly. Price Points only work with specific discount types:
✅ Allowed: Discounts configured for "Selected Items" or "One Item".
❌ Not Allowed: Discounts configured for "Subtotal" or "All Items" will not be triggered by a Price Point.
How to Link a Discount to a Price Point
Follow these simple steps to get your automated pricing or Happy Hour deals running:
Navigate to Price Points: In your NX Restaurant dashboard, go to the Menus section and select Price Points.
Select Your Price Point: Click on the specific Price Point you want to edit (e.g., "happy hr (venue)").
Configure Printing (Optional): Ensure Display on Receipts and Display on Chits are toggled ON if you want your staff and customers to see the "HH" or "Discount" label. 🧾
Find the Options Section: Scroll down to the bottom of the page to find the Options area.
Apply the Discount: Locate the Discount dropdown menu. Select the compatible discount you want to trigger (e.g., "Happy Hour 10%").
Save Your Changes: Click the Save button in the bottom right corner to push these changes to your POS.
Pro-Tips for Success 💡
Validation Note: When a discount is applied via a Price Point, the system will not check for menu filters, time restrictions, or approval requirements. It will apply the discount every single time that Price Point is used!
Active Status: Make sure the Active toggle is switched to the right (purple) so the Price Point is available for use.
Prompting: If you want your staff to be asked which price to use every time they tap an item, turn the Prompt toggle ON.
Troubleshooting & Tips 🛠️
Discount not appearing? Double-check that the "Active" toggle is turned on and that the discount type is set to "Selected Items" or "One Item."
Wrong discount amount? You’ll need to edit the discount itself under the Menus > Discounts section, then come back here to ensure it is still selected in the Price Point dropdown.
