Updating the NX Restaurant App Version on a Device in Esper
NX Support Partners can update the version of the NX Restaurant app running on devices directly through the Esper portal. This allows control over what version is installed at demo stations or live venues.
You can update:
- An individual device by using the Apps tab on the device.
- An entire group of devices using the App Management option in group actions.
⚠️ Important Note on Downgrades
Devices cannot be downgraded by installing an older version over a newer one.
If you need to install an older version:
- First uninstall the app from the device.
- Then reinstall the desired version, starting from the appropriate minimum deployable version.
Option 1: Update the App on a Single Device
- Go to Devices & Groups and select the device you want to update.
- Click the Apps tab.
- Find NX Restaurant in the app list to confirm the current version.
- To easily find the app, select the Enterprise Apps chip.
- Click Install New App button.
- In the Install New App window:
- Select NX Restaurant.
- Choose the version you want to install (e.g., 1.5.5 or 1.5.3).
- Click Install.
Option 2: Update the App for All Devices in a Group
- Navigate to the target group in Devices & Groups.
- Click the Actions button at the top right.
- Select App Management.
- In the App Management window:
- Platform: Android
- Action: Install
- App: NX Restaurant
- Version: Select the version you want to deploy
- Only versions tagged as RELEASE are known good, deploy versions tagged as QA only after thorough testing.
- Scroll to view which devices are eligible for install.
- Click Install to deploy the selected version.
Choosing the Right Version
- Release Versions (e.g., 1.5.3) are intended for production use.
- QA Versions (e.g., 1.5.5) are for internal testing or demo environments.
