Configuring Menu Items: The Nutritional Tab in the NX Restaurant Portal
The Nutritional tab in the Menu Item configuration area allows you to define key nutritional facts for each menu item. This data can be displayed within the POS as well as on guest-facing interfaces such as online ordering platforms, kiosks, rear displays, and digital menu boards.
Providing clear nutritional information enhances transparency and helps guests make informed decisions about their food choices.
How to Access the Nutritional Tab
- From the left navigation menu, go to Configuration > Menus > Items.
- Select an existing menu item or create a new one.
- Click the Nutritional tab along the top of the item editor.
Nutritional Fields
The following fields are available for data entry:
Serving Size
Input the portion size (e.g., “1 burger”, “12 oz”). This value appears alongside the nutritional data when displayed.
Calories
Calories (cals): Total caloric value of the item.
Fat
Total Fat (g): Total grams of fat.
Saturated Fat (g): Saturated fat content.
Trans Fat (g): Trans fat content.
Cholesterol & Sodium
Cholesterol (mg): Milligrams of cholesterol.
Sodium (mg): Milligrams of sodium.
Carbohydrates
Total Carbohydrate (g): Total grams of carbohydrates. Dietary Fiber (g): Fiber content.
Total Sugars (g): Total sugar content.
Protein
Protein (g): Total grams of protein in the item.
Usage
Once this information is saved:
It can be surfaced in the POS for internal reference. It can be shown to customers in online ordering or kiosk platforms when nutritional display settings are enabled.
Tip: Ensure nutritional values are accurate and consistent with any regulatory requirements applicable to your region or brand standards.
Saving Your Changes
When all fields are set:
- Click Save to commit the changes.
- Or click Cancel to discard any edits.
