Setting Up a PAX A35 EMV/Credit Card Pin-pad Payment Device

Before setting up the Payment Device, make sure your pin-pad is configured on your network. The A35 only works via Wifi or Ethernet. Find steps on how to configure the A35's network settings here.

Payment Device Setup

In the NX Restaurant Portal, navigate to the venue you wish to setup the Payment Device for and follow the steps below.

1. Navigate to Devices > Payment Devices.
2. If the device does not already exist, select the "Add" button in the bottom right corner.
3. Name the device an easy to understand and unique name in the Name field.
4.  Set the Sec Device ID drop down to Emv A35 Datacap E2e.
5. Set the Mode to Production.
6. Under the Interface section set the following:
   • Interface: Ethernet
   • IP Address: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
     • Note: View the devices IP settings directly from the device.
   • IP Port: 1235
7. Under the Device Info section set the following:
   • Manufacturer: Pax
   • Model: A35
8. Select the Save button in the bottom right corner.

Attaching a Payment Device to a POS Device

Next, you will need to link the Payment Device to the POS Device(s) that will use it. Keep in mind, multiple POS Devices can be attached to a single Payment Device however only one can use it at a time.

1. Navigate to Devices > POS Devices.
2. If the device does not already exist, select the "Add" button in the bottom right corner. Otherwise select the POS Device you wish to update.
3. Under the Payment Device dropdown, select the device you wish to attach.
4. Select the Save button in the bottom right corner.

Perform Pay Device Download

Once the Payment Device is setup and attached to a POS Device, relaunch the application on the POS Device to ensure the station has the most recent configuration. The last step is to perform a data download to the pin-pad.

1. From the POS Device, tap the Cloud Icon in the top right.
2. Select the Credit Card Icon from the Device Info screen.
3. Tap Config Pay Device.
   • During this process the device may reboot and beep several times.
4. Once the device reboots and is at the Welcome screen you may run a test transaction.
