Viewing and Managing Orders
The Order Viewer is your go-to tool for auditing transactions, troubleshooting guest issues, and managing check statuses directly from the NX Portal. Instead of running to a terminal, you can handle guest requests and back-office adjustments from any web browser.
Accessing Order Details
Navigate to Orders > Order Viewer in the sidebar. By default, the portal displays orders for the current Business Date.
When you select an order from the list, a detailed pane slides out from the right. This pane provides a complete breakdown of the transaction:
Online Receipt Link: Click the blue link (e.g., #71 CCHU7B8) to view the guest-facing digital receipt.
Business Date: Confirms which financial day this order is reporting against.
Status: Displays the current state of the order:
In Progress: Order is currently open.
Closed: Payment is complete and the check is finalized.
Partial Payment: Some funds have been applied, but a balance remains.
On Hold / Abandoned: Specific states for orders that weren't completed or were paused.
Time: Shows the exact timestamp from when the order was opened to when it was closed.
History Flag: If you see a info icon next to History, you can click it to view the Check Origin History. This is vital for tracking orders that stayed open across multiple days (e.g., a tab that started on the 26th and moved daily until the 6th).
Seats: If the order was split, you can toggle between Seat 1, Seat 2, etc. Each seat shows its specific items, payments, discounts, and fees, with a dynamic total at the bottom.
Using Order Commands
In the top-right corner of the order detail pane, you'll see a three-dot (â‹®) menu. This is where you find your "Order Commands."
1. Change Status
Need to manually move an order to "Closed" or "Abandoned"? Selecting Change Status allows you to update the order's state.
Note: Every status change is tracked for security. You will be prompted to provide a reason for the change to ensure your audit trail remains clean.
2. Print Check
If a guest needs a physical copy of a past receipt or a manager needs a printout for records, use Print Check. You can target any printer device currently configured for that Venue.
3. Send Check (Digital Receipts)
Go green! The Send Check command allows you to provide a guest with their receipt instantly:
Email: Enter the guest's email address to send an email copy of the receipt.
Phone (SMS): Send a text message link to the guest’s mobile device.
Practical Tip: Troubleshooting "Missing" Orders
If you can't find an order you know happened, check two things:
The Business Date: Ensure the date filter at the top of the Order Viewer matches the day the order was started.
View Recent Days: If the order was not closed out it may move to the next business day. You can see the Created Date/Time in the order list to confirm if an order started on the business day it's currently reporting to.
