Exporting Menu Items from Focus POS for Import into NX Restaurant
If you are migrating from Focus POS to NX Restaurant, you can export your menu items from Focus in a comma-delimited format (.txt or .csv). This allows you to quickly import them into NX Restaurant without manually re-entering your menu.
Steps to Export Menu Items
1. Navigate to Menu Items
- Open Focus Setup.
- Go to Menu > Menu Items.
- You will see a list of all menu items configured in your system.
2. (Optional) Filter Your Menu Items
You can filter the displayed list using the drop-down filters at the top of the screen:
- Report Group
- Printer Group
- Menu Filter
- Canvas (e.g., “SANDWICH CAFE” or “SALAD & STARTER”)
Filtering helps if you only want to export certain categories instead of the entire menu.
3. Open the Tools Menu
- Click Tools at the bottom of the window.
- Select Export from the Menu Item Functions window.
4. Select Export File Name and Fields
- In the File Name box, enter the path and file name where you want to save the export. Example: D:\Focus\sandwiches.txt.
- In the Included Fields list, ensure the columns you want are selected (e.g., Menu Name, Check Name, Remote Name, Prices, etc.).
- Use the arrow buttons to move fields between Available Fields and Included Fields.
- Click OK.
5. Confirm Export
- A confirmation window will appear showing your file path.
- Click Yes to export.
6. Locate Your Exported File
- Navigate to the folder you selected earlier (e.g., D:\Focus) to find your exported .txt file.
Next Steps
Once you have your exported file, you can format or clean it if necessary and then import it into NX Restaurant using the Menu Import feature.
