Gift Card Types Configuration in the NX Restaurant Portal

The Gift Card Types configuration screen allows enterprise-level users to define and organize different types of gift cards. Each type groups a set of cards under a common purpose or behavior, such as standard retail gift cards, promotional giveaways, or charitable donations. This categorization enables improved tracking, liability management, and business logic segmentation.

Purpose

Gift Card Types help you:

• Control the configuration and usage of specific types of gift cards.
• Apply custom business rules per group (e.g., reloadable vs. one-time use).
• Separate reporting and liability tracking by gift card intent (e.g., promotional vs. purchased).

Accessing Gift Card Types

To manage Gift Card Types:

• Select an Enterprise from the top right dropdown.
• Click Customer Service.
• Select Gift Card Types.

Key Fields and Configuration Options

Name

The internal name for the gift card type (e.g., “Gift Card”, “Promo Card”, “Donation Card”).

Configuration Toggles

• Active: Enables or disables the use of this gift card type.
• Reloadable: Allows balances to be reloaded on this card type after issuance.
• Liability Tracked: When enabled, the system will track outstanding balance as financial liability.
• Record Group: Assign a record group for financial and reporting purposes.

Denominations

Define preset denomination values available when issuing this card type. 

Each denomination includes:

• Name (e.g., “$50”)
• Value (e.g., “$50.00”)

You can add multiple denominations and reorder them using the drag handle on the left.
