Marketing — guides for restaurant operators
Marketing is where you email your guests: a one-off thank-you note to a regular, a Tuesday-night promo to everyone who hasn't been in for two months, a new-menu announcement to your whole list.
Where to find it: the NX Portal → Marketing. Everything is scoped to whatever you have selected at the top of the portal — a single venue, or your Enterprise (all locations).
These guides are written for the person actually sending the email. No technical background needed, except for §7 Sender & domains, where you may want whoever manages your website's DNS for ten minutes.

New to the module? Read Getting started — it explains the five pieces and walks you through your first send in about fifteen minutes.
Just need to send something to one guest right now? Quick Send.
Something isn't working? Troubleshooting.

TEMPLATES (reusable starting points)
- Contacts — email addresses you own and manage by hand. §2
- Customers — guests your POS and online ordering already know about. You don't manage these in Marketing; you target them. §2
- Lists — a named group of recipients. Some are hand-picked, some are rules that re-run every time you send. §3
- Templates — a saved design you start new emails from. §4
- Campaigns — one email, to one or more lists, sent now or later, with results afterwards. §5
Plus two setup areas you'll touch once and then forget: Domains (send from your own address) and Unsubscribes (the opt-out log).
What this module does and doesn't do today
It does: designed HTML email, personalization from your guest data, hand-picked and rule-based lists, scheduled sends, delivery/open/click tracking, automatic unsubscribe handling, sending from your own verified domain.
It doesn't (yet):
- Text messages. Marketing is email only.
- Automations / drip sequences. There's no "send this 3 days after a first visit" trigger. You schedule each campaign yourself. §9 shows how to get most of the way there with a recurring calendar reminder.
- Bulk contact import. There is no CSV upload. You add contacts one at a time — or skip the contact pool entirely and target POS customers with a Customer Query list, which is what most venues should do. §2
- A/B testing.
These guides describe the module as built. Where the on-screen wording and the actual behaviour disagree, the guides follow the behaviour and say so.
