Setting Up Tax Groups in NX Restaurant
Tax Groups in NX Restaurant allow you to bundle one or more Tax Types and apply them to Menu Items, Fees, Gratuities, and other taxable charges. This structure supports detailed tax reporting and ensures compliance with city, county, and state tax regulations.
💡 Note: Tax Types must be created before you can assign them to a Tax Group. Learn more on setting up Tax Types here: Taxes > Tax Types.
Accessing Tax Groups
- Log in to the NX Restaurant Portal.
- Navigate to Financial > Taxes > Tax Groups.
Creating a Tax Group
- Click the + New button to create a new tax group.
- In the Name field, enter a descriptive name (e.g., Sales Tax).
- (Optional) Use the Active Time dropdown to apply the tax group only during a specific time range.
- (Optional) Use the Order Types dropdown to restrict the tax group to specific order types. If left blank, it applies to all order types.
- Assign Tax Types.
- Click the + icon to add a Tax Type.
- Use the dropdown to select an existing Tax Type (e.g., State Tax 5%, City Tax 1.5%, County Tax 2.5%).
- Repeat to include all relevant tax components in the group.
- Click Save to apply your changes.
Using Tax Groups
Once created, Tax Groups can be assigned to:
- Menu Items
- Service Fees
- Gratuities
- Surcharges
